During a beach walk with his owner on Saturday, July 27, a dog was rushed to the vet after accidentally ingesting marijuana.

Stephen Davidson, 59, noticed his eight-year-old West Highland terrier, Oscar, behaving strangely after their usual walk in Sheerness, Kent, England.

Davidson described Oscar as typically “loveable and clingy,” but he became lethargic and stopped drinking water unexpectedly.

Concerned for Oscar’s well-being, Davidson promptly took him to an emergency vet to ensure he didn’t suffer from dehydration or worse.

At the vet, it was discovered that Oscar’s unusual behavior was due to ingesting marijuana, leaving Davidson shocked.

After receiving treatment at the vet, Oscar made a full recovery and returned to his normal self.

Davidson reflected on the incident, emphasizing the importance of being cautious about where to walk Oscar in the future, expressing concerns about the prevalence of drug use in their town.

He urged other dog owners to be vigilant and seek immediate veterinary care if their pets exhibit unusual behavior.

Recognizing the signs of marijuana intoxication in dogs, such as wobbliness, sleepiness, dilated pupils, and excessive drooling, is crucial for prompt treatment.
