Initially, Dr. Given started sharing her experiences at Little Apple Veterinary Hospital on TikTok to connect with other veterinary professionals. However, she soon realized that pet parents could also benefit from her insights gained in the clinic.
“I first started on TikTok by sharing interesting cases from the clinic in the hopes of engaging with other veterinarians or students interested in veterinary medicine,” Dr. Given shared with Newsweek. “I soon discovered that TikTok can be a valuable educational tool for pet owners looking to improve their pets’ overall health and well-being.”
The “dangle test” video quickly gained popularity on TikTok, with Tori holding up a cute kitten and jokingly suggesting, “Apparently, if you dangle them like this and they’re okay with it, then they’ll be good cats.”
Tori learned about this test from an experienced veterinarian when she first entered the field at around eighteen years old.
“His belief was that if a puppy or kitten can dangle loosely without stress, they will grow up to be well-behaved dogs and cats,” Tori explained.
