Decorating Your Home at Your Own Pace
Amidst the frenzy of 24-hour room transformations and the pressure of picture-perfect homes on social media, it’s important to remember that it’s perfectly okay to decorate your space slowly. You don’t have to succumb to the rush of making your entire house feel finished in an instant. As someone who’s currently engaged in a one-month living room makeover project with AllModern, I understand the excitement of quick transformations. However, this process sparked a valuable conversation with my roommate about our different decorating approaches, shedding light on two distinct camps of decorators.
The Fast Decorators
For many design enthusiasts, including myself, decorating involves years of collecting items we love and slowly integrating them into our spaces. This often results in a rapidly growing collection of vintage pieces, décor, furniture, and art. Personally, I tend to showcase these collected items in my room, even if they don’t perfectly fit the space, with the intention of swapping them out for more suitable pieces in the future. To maintain a cohesive look, I end up purchasing additional items to complement the existing ones. My goal is to create a finished and personalized space, even if it means a constant flow of décor items in and out of the house. The urge to decorate quickly stems from both professional and personal reasons, as I find it challenging to relax in an unfinished or impersonal environment. If you resonate with this approach, welcome to the fast decorators’ club.

The Slow Decorators
On the other hand, slow decorators also curate their spaces over time but adopt a more intentional and deliberate approach. This group focuses on collecting perfect pieces at the right prices and meticulously plans their placement. They are willing to live without certain elements temporarily, such as art on the walls or a side table, to avoid investing in items that don’t align with their vision. This methodical process ensures that every addition to the space is purposeful and has long-term value. While both approaches have their merits, it’s essential to find a balance that suits your lifestyle and preferences.

Choosing Your Decorating Adventure
Whether you identify more with the fast or slow decorators, or a mix of both, the key is to decorate at your own pace and follow your instincts. AllModern’s Black Friday in July sale offers a fantastic opportunity to enhance your space with quality pieces at discounted prices. From small and simple upgrades like drink tables and trays to medium-sized additions such as stone side tables and whimsical benches, there’s something for every decorator’s taste and budget. Consider investing in larger furniture pieces like desks, recliners, or sofas for a significant home upgrade that can transform your living space.

Remember, your home is a reflection of your personality and style, so take your time to curate a space that truly feels like home. Whether you prefer a rapid transformation or a more gradual evolution, the key is to create a space that brings you comfort and joy.
