Transforming the Nursery/Guest Room by updating the doors was a game-changer. With a little paint and some trim, the outdated Bi-Fold closet doors and main door were completely revamped.
The original closet doors looked tired and dated, like all the other doors in the house. Painting them was a satisfying first step in the transformation process.

HOW TO UPDATE DATED DOORS
Step 1
Determine the design for your doors to guide your trim selection and quantity. I chose a simple rectangle for each panel.
Step 2
Cut the trim to size using pine wood screen trim, ensuring each piece is precise and cut at a 45° angle for a seamless finish.

STEP 3
Apply wood glue to the back of the trim pieces.

STEP 4
Use a nail gun to attach the trim pieces to the door.
TIP – Ensure the nails are not too long to avoid going through the back of the door!

STEP 5
Fill the nail holes with spackling paste, sanding them down once dry.

STEP 6
Prime the doors with Kilz All Purpose Primer, applying one coat.

STEP 7
Paint the doors with Baby Fawn by Benjamin Moore in their Advance Paint for a sophisticated look.

STEP 8
Upgrade the hardware with matte black knobs on the closet doors and spray paint the main door handle for a cohesive finish.

The impact of updating these doors was remarkable. The transformative power of paint brought a sophisticated touch to the space, just as intended.
