Debbie Crafton celebrated another significant victory in the National Reined Cow Horse Association in early 2026, clinching the Tres Osos Derby Non Pro Championship riding SJR Sumkinda Mist to a total score of 656.5.
Hailing from Ordway, Colorado, Crafton excelled with scores of 219.5 in the herd, 217.5 in the rein work, and 219.5 down the fence, earning $10,000 and securing a major win for the 5-year-old mare affectionately known as “Fancy.”
Already a Million Dollar Rider in NRCHA, Crafton has found much success with horses from San Juan Ranch. Fancy is the latest standout offspring of the late broodmare Sumkinda Pinkcadillac, who also produced Crafton’s horse SJR Sumkinda Rockstar, earning over $130,000.

Another Standout From Sumkinda Pinkcadillac
Fancy and SRJ Cadilac Mist, shown by Matt Koch, signify the final foal crops of the mare, adding extra significance to their victory at Tres Osos.
Speaking about the Pinkcadillac horses, Crafton mentioned, “They’re very willing and make great partners. They always aim to please and are exceptionally nice to have around.”
This agreeable nature translates into dependable daily performance, with Fancy being one of Crafton’s go-to horses for bareback riding or leading other horses around.

Fence Work Delivers the Title
Although the Tres Osos Derby marked Fancy’s first major win, she has been steadily improving. After being the reserve at the Hackamore Classic last year, Crafton noted that Fancy has matured consistently over time.
Similar to her brother Rockstar, Fancy took longer to develop mentally in the show arena.
Discussing the finals, Crafton highlighted the fence work as the game-changer, with a score of 219.5. When a large spotted cow entered the arena, Crafton trusted Fancy’s abilities.
“The faster we went, the more she enjoyed it,” Crafton mentioned.
Fancy delivered with strong turns and a clean finish, securing the overall victory.
Positioned for a Strong Derby Season
At 5 years old, Fancy seems to be hitting her peak at the right moment in her derby year. Crafton noted increased confidence in all three phases, especially after recent adjustments in the fence work.
“She’s absolutely stunning… strong, well-built, with a great mindset that never backs down,” Crafton described.
Crafton also sees long-term breeding potential in Fancy as she expands her program with successful performers.
With the momentum from Tres Osos, the duo now looks ahead to the rest of the premier event season, including the Non Pro Hackamore Finals at the Celebration of Champions before heading West.
“We’re ready for Stallion Stakes and more derby action,” Crafton affirmed.
