If you’ve ever tried Estée Lauder’s iconic Advanced Night Repair—22 bottles are sold every minute—you know the magic behind the brand’s “night skin science.” Since ANR’s launch in 1982, Estée Lauder has also added three eye products, two cleansers, and a serum for sensitive skin and redness to the collection. Now, a new nighttime mask joins the group, with the promise to give “the look of two nights of sleep in one.” Who doesn’t want that? Meet the Advanced Night Repair Overnight Treatment.
The Benefits
According to a 2023 Gallup poll, a whopping 20 percent of Americans reported they only get five hours or less of sleep per night. Additionally, 63 percent of those who reported wanting more sleep said they frequently experience stress. Those two factors—sleep and stress—play an important role in the health and appearance of our skin. When sleep is low and stress is high, it’s the perfect storm for signs of fatigue and aging to set in. As we sleep, it’s also the optimal time for skin to recover from the day and naturally repair itself. Estée Lauder has been studying “night skin science” and circadian rhythms for more than 40 years, so it knows a thing or two about what works. It also has 38 patents!
This new mask features the brand’s exclusive Night Peptide (Tripeptide-32), which is the same peptide found in the beloved Advanced Night Repair serum (it’s patented until 2033). The goal of this peptide is to support skin’s natural day-and-night rhythm, which means protecting it during the day and renewing it at night. With continued use, skin looks better and better each morning. Fine lines appear to fade, the skin barrier is strengthened, and radiance is restored. I’ve only used it a few times so far, but my first impression was how soft and smooth my skin felt. I didn’t want to stop touching it.
The formula also includes hyaluronic acid and polyglutamic acid for intense moisturization, as well as ATPower technology to energize the skin. In consumer testing on 163 women after applying the mask once at night, 91 percent said it “blankets skin with moisture” and “melts into skin on contact.” I do love the silky texture, which the brand says some users have likened to “tucking their skin in at night.” It’s rich thanks to the shea and cocoa butters, but not greasy or heavy. The formula is also fragrance-free, but it does contain natural botanicals like lavender, chamomile, and cucumber that lend a natural scent.

Key Ingredients
Tripeptide-32, sodium hyaluronate, and shea butter
How to Use It
Apply the cream as the last step in your nighttime skin-care routine, on top of serums. Rub the product between your fingers first to warm it up, as warm products tend to penetrate the skin better. Also, don’t forget to bring it down your neck and onto your décolleté as well. The brand also tested the formula on post-procedure skin, specifically after Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) treatments. It was first applied within the 36-hour period after treatment and then continued for two weeks. Results proved the mask was effective and nonirritating on this skin type.
