Just a little over a year ago, Eva Amurri, daughter of Susan Sarandon and lifestyle creator, happily married her now-husband Ian Hock. Despite the joyous occasion, critics wasted no time in criticizing Amurri’s dress and exposed chest. However, Amurri didn’t let the negativity get to her and now she’s opening up once again about body image, sharing on her Instagram the seven things she learned after undergoing a recent breast reduction.
Eva Amurri Opens Up About Life After Breast Reduction
When one thinks about recovering from a breast reduction or any similar surgery, common effects like back sleeping and limited exercise typically come to mind. However, in her candid Instagram post, Amurri revealed that there are more adjustments to make post-breast reduction than one might expect. Amurri’s first revelation post-surgery? Goodbye to using the Stanley Cup. “If you thought you could use your Stanley Cup during recovery, think again!” the lifestyle creator shared. “It’s too heavy to hold safely after breast surgery, so I’m using a water bottle with a straw instead,” she explained. The toughest part of recovery for Amurri has been sleeping, as she had to purchase a pregnancy pillow to comfortably sleep on her back.
Regarding exercise, Amurri’s surgeon advised six weeks of avoiding strenuous physical activity. However, he recommended lots of walking, so Amurri opted for a Fitbit to help her track her movement goals during recovery. Another unexpected challenge for Amurri post-surgery was blow-drying her hair, as lifting her arms above her head was a no-go. Instead, she indulged in salon blowouts, which she highly recommends. “Nourishing my body during this healing period has been the ultimate form of self-care,” Amurri shared in her Instagram post. “I’ve found joy in giving my body what it needs to feel its best.” Amurri also experienced random bruising post-surgery, which, although normal, was not easy to see. Concluding her post on a reflective note, Amurri shared that resting has been difficult but has led her to reevaluate her values. “It’s something I want to continue pondering,” she added.
