Y’all have strong opinions, and I appreciate that because it brings a different perspective to the table. In our previous discussion about the stained glass doors, there was a lot of feedback about the discomfort of having a toilet near a urinal without proper separation. While the intention was never to use them simultaneously, the idea of sharing the same space with a urinal seemed off-putting to some. It appears that the concept of a urinal is not very popular among women, but the excitement from Brian, Charlie, and their friends is still strong. Personally, I am still in favor of having a urinal because I prioritize creating a fun environment in my home above all else. However, I understand the need for separation, so we are exploring ways to address this concern.
With the help of the user-friendly design program called Spoak, we have been able to visualize and accurately layout various options for the bathroom, including both elevations and floor plans. This tool has been incredibly helpful in making informed decisions about the design and layout of the space. If you enjoy design but are not familiar with rendering programs, I highly recommend checking out Spoak.
Option #1: Single Outhouse with Partition
Our original plan included a partition between the toilet and the urinal to provide some separation. This partition could be constructed using wood, panels, tiles, metal, or even glass. The addition of a tiled backsplash could also enhance the aesthetics of the space.
Pros: Maintains the layout while adding a degree of separation. The option to include a tiled backsplash for visual appeal is available.
Cons: ADA compliance might require the removal of the partition in the future. However, this could be easily addressed by adding a shower curtain with waterproof fabric on the men’s side. Additionally, the sink area may feel cramped and might require some adjustments.
