When it comes to designing a house or a room, there are countless decisions to be made. One of those decisions is choosing the sheen for your paint. In this post, we provide our recommended paint sheen options for every space in your home, along with a handy graphic. Emily typically prefers a lower sheen option, but it’s important to test your options before making a final decision. The sheen of your paint can have a significant impact on the overall look and feel of a room.

If you’re looking for a quick guide, here’s the graphic:

Each room in your home may require a different sheen for the paint. The higher the sheen, the more durable the paint will be, but it may also highlight imperfections. Let’s explore the recommended sheen for each room:

Living Room – Flat, Matte, or Eggshell

In the living room, flat, matte, or eggshell sheens are suitable options. Flat paint has zero sheen, while matte offers a slight sheen. The choice depends on your personal preference and the level of durability you need.

High gloss paint can create a stunning visual impact, but it requires more maintenance due to its reflective properties.

With these recommendations, you can confidently choose the right paint sheen for each space in your home. Happy painting!
