As I’m finishing up my living room design, my focus is now on my bedroom. Designing only one bedroom in my adult life, I want to get it right. The pressure is on, but it’s all part of the fun! To start, I need to finalize my layout to determine furniture needs and sizes for easy sourcing. Let me walk you through my bedroom and layout options, followed by five fail-proof layouts to help if you’re struggling with your bedroom layout.
Here is a glimpse of my bedroom before I moved in…
Describing my “headboard wall” and French window wall, I share my room’s princess-like feel. The room features a skinny balcony and beautiful natural light.
With temporary white curtains and a vintage chair, the room exudes a royal charm. A tall slim dresser is under consideration for the wall opposite to the “headboard wall.”
Opting for a slim tall dresser, I share my preference for a simple, uncluttered, and peaceful layout. A low and long dresser is another option considered for the opposite wall.
Currently sleeping in a full-sized bed, I look forward to upgrading to a queen size. Despite suggestions for a king bed, I prefer a queen for sentimental reasons and space considerations.
Visualizing the room without any furniture, I assess the layout’s scope with multiple doors and windows.
Considering a slim tall dresser for simplicity and balance, I contemplate adding a bench or ottomans for aesthetic and functional purposes.
Exploring options with or without a bench, I weigh the pros and cons of each layout choice. A low and long dresser is another possibility but may add unnecessary furniture to the room.

For smaller spaces, consider a symmetrical layout with minimal furniture. Play with patterns and textures to add interest. A reading chair can be a great addition for added comfort.
Consider a layout with two dressers for couples or individuals with ample storage needs. Vary dresser sizes and styles for a unique look in your bedroom.
For a versatile layout, consider adding a reading chair next to your dresser. A chair across from your bed can create a cozy spot for conversation or relaxation. Customize your layout to suit your unique space!
