Pasadena Humane’s annual calendar contest is now accepting submissions until Sunday, June 30th.
Twelve lucky pet parents will have the chance to see their fur babies featured in the pages of the 2025 Pasadena Humane calendar through a popular vote.
Pets can be entered into one of three categories: dogs, cats, and “other pets.” The top three vote-getters in each category will be showcased as the featured photo for a month in the 2025 calendar.
Additionally, three “Judge’s Choice” pets will be selected to fill the remaining months, ensuring that every pet entered has a shot at fame.
Last year’s competition was intense, with 192 entries in the 2024 contest. The top cat, Federer, received over 7,000 votes, raising nearly $40,000 for pets in the community.
Kevin McManus, Pasadena Humane’s public relations and communications manager, shared that the current leading entry, Spot, has garnered 1,956 votes as of June 9.
Each photo entry costs $25, and votes are priced at $1 each, with a minimum donation of $5 (equivalent to five votes). All participants will receive a complimentary 2025 calendar by mail in the fall of 2024. To enter or vote, please visit pasadenahumane.org/25calendar.
“Our annual calendar contest is one of our most beloved fundraisers,” said Dia DuVernet, President and CEO of Pasadena Humane. “The abundance of adorable pets and stunning photos makes it even more special, knowing that it all goes towards benefiting the pets in our care. It’s truly a win-win situation.”
The 2025 calendar is generously supported by Petco Love, with a $10,000 sponsorship that will aid Pasadena Humane’s programs and services for pets in the Greater Los Angeles area.
“Our partnership with Pasadena Humane is part of Petco Love’s commitment to saving the lives of pets across the nation,” explained Susanne Kogut, President of Petco Love. “We are dedicated to empowering animal lovers to make a positive impact alongside us, as seen through initiatives like Petco Love Lost, a national lost and found database using advanced technology to simplify the search for lost pets.”
At the Pasadena Humane campus, vulnerable animals receive shelter, care, and the opportunity for a fresh start. In addition to pet adoptions and fostering, the organization offers support to help individuals care for their pets, including free and low-cost spay/neuter services, vaccinations, a pet food pantry, and an animal support call center. In 2023 alone, Pasadena Humane assisted nearly 40,000 animals through various services.
With 15 years of experience at Pasadena Humane, including two years in his current role, Kevin McManus emphasized the popularity of the calendar competition within the organization.
“It’s truly incredible,” he remarked. “All of us in animal welfare are inundated with cute pets and amusing cat videos on our Instagram feeds. Take a look at the submissions already received – they’re absolutely adorable. It’s a heartwarming experience for all of us.”
