I have a deep appreciation for creative friends, especially those who are bolder than I am when it comes to design. My friends Annie and Derik have a den/bonus room that is a true reflection of their fearless design choices. From pink wall-to-wall carpet to a vintage school popcorn maker, their space is a delightful mix of creativity and personality. The entire room is adorned with the same Spoonflower fabric pattern, from the sofa to the walls to the window shades. It’s a bold and cohesive design that truly stands out.
The star of the room is undoubtedly the vintage round sectional that has been reupholstered in Spoonflower velvet fabric. This inspired the concept of pattern drenching, where the same pattern is used across different elements in the room. Annie’s choice of velvet fabric for the sofa, linen for the shades, and pre-pasted wallpaper for the walls showcases the versatility and quality of Spoonflower’s products.

The room exudes a rock ‘n roll, funky, and creative vibe that is a true reflection of Annie and Derik’s style. Vintage elements, colorful accents, and a touch of kitsch come together harmoniously in this space. The bold use of patterns and colors creates a visually striking aesthetic that is both fun and inviting.
Annie’s attention to detail is evident in every corner of the room, from the reupholstered lucite chairs to the custom-made round pillows. The deep butter color used on the window trim, built-ins, and ceiling adds a rich contrast to the vibrant patterns in the room. Every element, from the window treatments to the TV cover, showcases the same Spoonflower fabric pattern, creating a cohesive and visually engaging space.

Pattern drenching may seem daunting, but when done right, it can transform a space into a work of art. Annie and Derik’s den/bonus room is a testament to the power of bold design choices and creative expression. With Spoonflower’s vast collection of patterns and products, the possibilities are endless. Whether you prefer a subtle touch or a full-on pattern drench, Spoonflower offers a range of options to suit every style.
