When I visit antique malls or vintage stores without a specific purpose, it’s always a dangerous situation. I tend to find something that I absolutely love, even if I don’t have an immediate need for it. But recently, during a biking trip to the San Juan Islands, Brian and I stumbled upon a vintage shop called Smorgasbord on Orcas Island and it was a treasure trove. The owner, Melanie, was a reader of mine, which made the experience even more special. I couldn’t resist bringing home a few souvenirs to commemorate the trip and support the amazing store.

This watercolor painting, acquired from an estate on the island, serves as a perfect memento of our special trip. I always have room for more art, especially pieces of this size. I’m considering hanging it in my bathroom and possibly reframing it with a darker wood frame or a green matte.
