Barn jackets seem to be making a comeback these days. They have a western vibe and a sense of utilitarian nostalgia that many people find appealing. What we love most about them is how easy they are to throw on and wear. Typically made with mixed materials like denim or canvas with unique collars and plenty of pockets. I recently came across a few barn jackets at the mall that caught my eye, along with some other fall jackets that are perfect for the season. I decided to try them on with my favorite Korkease fall boots and barrel jeans that I can’t seem to part with.
Renacida Jacket (Extra Small) | Jeans (Size 26) | Boots (Size 7)
I was pleasantly surprised by this jacket I found at Shopbop for $60. It’s made of thicker cotton, making it incredibly easy to throw on and wear. I’ve been reaching for it daily, and I adore the striped pattern. Plus, it has so many pockets!

Renacida Jacket (Extra Small) | Jeans (Size 26) | Boots (Size 7)
This jacket runs VERY oversized. Even the XS small I’m wearing is quite large. While we like the oversized look, especially paired with tall boots, I would recommend sizing down if you prefer a more fitted style.

Denim Trapeze Jacket (Medium) | Jeans (Size 26) | Boots (Size 7)
The Madewell jacket I stumbled upon at Nordstrom was hard to find, likely due to its popularity, but I managed to snag one. It’s pretty much perfect.

Denim Trapeze Jacket (Medium) | Jeans (Size 26) | Boots (Size 7)
The polished look of this jacket (thanks to the dark denim, contrasting thread, and brass buttons) combined with the trapeze-style back gives it a sophisticated feel. I tried on a medium, so I recommend sizing up for a comfortable fit.
