Serena Williams has joined the ranks of celebrities who are using GLP-1 to aid in their weight loss journey. The tennis superstar, known for her Grand Slam and Olympic victories, recently announced her partnership with Ro, a telehealth company, as both a patient and ambassador.
Williams candidly discussed her struggles with post-pregnancy weight loss, despite maintaining a healthy diet and rigorous workout routine. Frustrated by the lack of progress, she turned to Ro and their GLP-1 program.
“It was a game-changer for my body. The weight started coming off gradually, and it felt like my body finally had the support it needed,” Williams shared in a video. Following her success with Ro and shedding 31 pounds, as reported by PEOPLE, Williams aims to destigmatize the use of GLP-1 medications and encourage open conversations about them.
“Even with intense training, a clean diet, and dedication, my body refused to respond post-pregnancy. I realized it was not about willpower but biology. My body required the support of GLP-1 and clinical guidance,” Williams explained. “By partnering with Ro, I hope to extend this help to others who, like me, may be struggling despite their best efforts. Access to necessary treatments is a right, not a shortcut. It’s about prioritizing healthcare.”
