Body serums, like face serums, are powerful treatments that can transform the condition of your skin. They offer more targeted benefits than traditional lotions and creams, addressing issues such as crepey skin and dark spots. Personally, I have found body serums to be a game changer in my skincare routine, especially since the start of the pandemic. Recently, I’ve been loving the Body Reform Serum by celebrity aesthetician Shani Darden. Here’s my honest review.
The Benefits of This Body Serum
There are different types of body serums, including hydrating ones and treatment-focused ones. The Body Reform Serum falls into the latter category and is particularly effective for addressing crepey skin, rough skin texture, and conditions like keratosis pilaris (KP). Personally, I struggle with crepey skin above my knees and KP on my legs. While I’ve heard that avoiding sugary foods can help with KP, I prefer relying on products like this serum. In addition to these concerns, Darden claims that the serum also helps brighten dark spots and fade stretch marks. If you’ve tried Darden’s Retinol Reform serum for the face, you’ll understand the hype surrounding this formula.
In a study with 39 participants, 93% reported smoother skin, 91% saw an improvement in their KP, and 87% noticed firmer skin. The key ingredients include 2% Granactive Retinoid for reducing lines and wrinkles, Hydronesis for addressing KP, vitamin C for brightening, and amino acids for smoothing and hydrating.

How to Use It
To use the serum, apply an even layer to areas of concern from the neck down, such as the arms, legs, and back. Follow up with a body lotion or cream for added moisture. Since the serum contains a retinoid, it should only be applied at night. Retinoids can increase sun sensitivity, so be sure to use sunscreen during the day on exposed areas. Like with retinol serums for the face, start by using it every other night and gradually increase frequency based on your skin’s tolerance.
