Trying Another Sofa Set-Up In Our Living Room: The Milo Sectional Sofa

Embarking on an unusual experiment, testing out various living room configurations in the name of “photographing your sofa line” is quite out of the ordinary. Despite its atypical nature, I wish this experience for everyone. Perhaps this could be a glimpse into the future of AI (although it’s not doing a great job at the moment – no offense to the future leader robots!). Last week, we showcased our living room with the double “Barb” setup, which I absolutely adore. On the same day, we introduced the sectional sofa (special thanks to my team, led by Gretch, for the heavy lifting). It’s undeniably appealing visually, although slightly less functional. Allow me to demonstrate:

The color scheme is harmonious. The size of the sectional sofa is just right. And it exudes coziness. I have a soft spot for our sectional – it’s robust, low, and incredibly comfortable, with its sink-in-able bench seat and cushy backrest. Initially a 7 on the firmness scale, it will eventually settle into a 5 (the ideal balance to avoid looking sloppy and mushy).

If there were a TV above the fireplace, it might make sense for the configuration to face the fireplace predominantly, with limited additional seating options. However, this setup doesn’t provide enough seating for a room primarily used for screen-free socializing with friends or family.

For the sake of comparison, let’s examine a slider featuring both green sofas:

Now, let’s transition to the two recent setups:

I appreciate the spacious and airy feel of the room, with ample negative space to allow the eyes to rest. However, once you’ve experienced the luxury of two sofas where everyone can comfortably converse, it’s challenging to revert (especially in a large room like this). The single chaise sectional facing a non-TV fireplace doesn’t seem suitable for our living room.

Let’s revisit the greens:

And now, the other two:

The chaise on the Milo is wonderfully spacious, creating a perfect double cuddle corner. If the cream linen blend gives you pause (it’s a performance fabric with a diverse range of threads), rest assured it’s also available in velvet Charcoal and Chocolate. I admire the chunky arms and sturdy construction.

Fancy a bit more green?

Lastly, a view fully embracing the sunroom:

I’d like to highlight that given the current furniture prices, this sectional is attractively priced at $2,999 and can be even more affordable during Black Friday sales. While I have no control over the pricing, I sincerely hope for at least a 15% discount (and perhaps free shipping from Wayfair as an added perk). Manufactured in Texas, this sectional ships promptly, allowing you to receive it before Christmas (fingers crossed!).

So, which setup is your favorite? As someone who inhabits this space with my husband, children, and furry companions, I have a personal preference, but I genuinely appreciate all three options. Since you, the readers, have a more objective viewpoint (unlike me, who is too closely involved), I’m curious to hear your thoughts. Are you Team Double Alice, Team Double Barb (blue and pink), or Team Big Milo?
