My Favorite Piece of Furniture: The Antique Floral Chaise Lounge
If I had to choose a favorite piece of furniture in our home, it would have to be my antique floral chaise lounge, closely followed by our coffee table. As I grow older, I find myself drawn to mixing different eras of my life within my home, regardless of the current architectural style. I believe that this chaise lounge can work in any type of home, bridging the gap between old-world European charm and American country aesthetics. Some may question its compatibility with the quilted mushroom stools due to their contrasting styles, but for me, it’s all about the shared color palette and clean lines with decorative fabric that tie them together.

I purchased this chaise lounge from Jayson Home about 8-10 years ago. While it was in good condition for an antique, what truly captivated me were the delicate curves of the arms and back, reminiscent of Scandinavian design. Initially upholstered in its original fabric, the wear and tear from our kids and cats led me to have it reupholstered in a stunning blue and green velvet from House of Hackney, which complements the browns beautifully. The absence of fringing at the bottom doesn’t detract from its beauty, and I might consider adding it in the future if I find the perfect tone and length.

After styling the house to sell, I realized the chaise lounge deserved a place of prominence. The decision to bring it back to our farmhouse was met with enthusiasm, as I love the way it looks in its new setting. Paired with the rest of the furniture, the chaise lounge exudes elegance and charm, especially during the holiday season.
