Guest Cottage: Should I Build My Own DIY Kitchen Cabinets???

In my search for kitchen cabinets, I came across many affordable options that I could easily buy and paint. However, I decided to take on the challenge of learning some basic carpentry skills and DIY-ing my own kitchen cabinets for a small space, reminiscent of a first studio apartment. I was inspired by DIY renovators like Renee Renovates, who create their own cabinetry with impressive joinery. I wanted to keep it simple yet charming, so I planned to add a floral curtain to the mix.

As I delved into Pinterest for inspiration, I found various ways to construct basic shelves with curtains, steering clear of intricate joinery and gliders. I opted for a simple approach to ensure that anyone, including myself and my team, could execute the project successfully.

While some designs showcased elegant joinery and high-quality wood, I leaned towards a more primitive and functional construction to suit the cottage vibe. I pinned images that resonated with the simplicity and basicness I was aiming for, incorporating reclaimed wood for added character.

One particular design caught my eye with its exposed shelves and unique base, adding a touch of architectural interest. I admired the craftsmanship in each piece and envisioned how I could recreate it with my own twist.

Despite stumbling upon more intricate designs that seemed above my skill level, I remained drawn to the idea of crafting my own cabinets with a touch of whimsy and color. I envisioned a charming curtain made from vintage floral fabric, adding a playful element to the overall look.

As I continued to explore different styles and construction techniques, I sought advice and recommendations for a carpenter in Portland who could guide me through the process. I was eager to learn the ropes and share my journey with others, documenting each step to avoid any mishaps along the way.
