Exciting news! We have embarked on a wonderful makeover project that I am thrilled to share with you. These projects are my favorite because I get to work with a trusted partner to provide a deserving individual with a free makeover. It’s a win/win/win situation. This project is in collaboration with Velux (kudos to their amazing marketing team) who aims to brighten up the life of Beth, our lucky winner. Beth’s daughter, Colby, nominated her for this makeover because Beth is dealing with macular degeneration, causing her to lose her vision gradually. Her living room lacks natural light, making it even harder for her to see. As she plans to age in place, my goal is to design a room that is not only comfortable and stylish but also easy for her to navigate and live in. Working with Beth and Colby has been a joy, and I am grateful for the opportunity to make a difference in their lives.

Beth’s living room, where she spends most of her time, is in need of a makeover. She is in her late 70s and has mostly grown grandkids who visit her. Since moving to Portland to be closer to her family during Covid, she is looking to make her space more comfortable and inviting. With most of her furniture from FBMP, she is open to any changes and excited about the makeover. My aim is to create a space that suits her needs and reflects her personality.

The room, although spacious, lacks natural light and needs some cosmetic changes. My plan is to make the room more comfortable, improve its functionality, and enhance its aesthetic appeal without major structural alterations. By adding skylights and updating the lighting, I aim to create a space that is both practical and visually appealing for Beth.
Key Points:

The room’s layout and furniture arrangement will be modified to improve accessibility and functionality for Beth. By incorporating her wishlist and considering her specific needs, we aim to create a space that is not only visually appealing but also practical for everyday use.

As we continue with the design process, your input and suggestions are highly valued. Together, we can create a space that not only meets Beth’s needs but also enhances her quality of life. Thank you for being a part of this exciting journey!
