Welcome to the second installment of the “But I Need It” series. If you missed the first one, make sure to check it out. This series is for the design-obsessed (which is likely all of you ;)) and focuses on the things that are on our Pinterest boards and that we are swooning over. Today, I will be discussing wood storage cabinets that look like pieces of art. My Pinterest feed is filled with wood objects, and I have a particular fondness for this material. While I appreciate simple and classic storage cabinets, dressers, etc., pieces like these (mostly vintage) make me yearn for more uniqueness in our furniture. The main challenge, of course, is affordability because creating such pieces isn’t cheap. However, I hope this post serves as eye candy, inspires your creativity, and maybe even sparks a DIY project. Speaking of…
I came across this storage cabinet a few years ago, and it left me speechless. While I wouldn’t consider myself a polka dot person, I do love shapes (I know, it sounds confusing, but it’s different to me). This particular piece was priced at over $18,000, which is way beyond my budget. However, armed with some carpentry skills, a can-do attitude, and the help of my dad (who is a skilled builder), I decided to create my own version. Inspired by the vintage piece that now resides in my living room, my creation may not be similar, but it ignited a spark in me and adds a unique touch to my home. I share this story to emphasize my passion for what I’m about to discuss and to show that you can also get creative with your furniture.

Geometric Storage Cabinets
This next piece sparked the idea for this post. While it may be a bit out of my wheelhouse in terms of craftsmanship, the 3D geometric panels on this cabinet are absolutely breathtaking. The addition of these elements transforms a simple design into a showstopper. This photo is a constant source of inspiration for me.
