Today’s post is a heartwarming story of spreading holiday cheer at the Family Promise Shelter. This shelter, which houses and supports 70 families, is a beacon of hope for those in need. This year, we decorated the shelter for the holidays with the help of my kids and their friends. It was a joyous and fulfilling experience that brought a sense of community and love to everyone involved.

The Lobby Pre-Holiday

The lobby at the shelter received a makeover with the help of AllModern, providing high-quality furniture that made a significant impact. The newly updated space now feels welcoming and comfortable for all who enter.

The Dining Room Before

The dining room, with its matching furniture pieces, received a festive touch to create a warm and inviting atmosphere. Despite the restrictions on wall decorations, the space was transformed creatively to bring holiday cheer to the families.

The Bonus Room Before

The bonus room, designated for older kids, received a festive corner makeover to create a cozy space for them to relax and enjoy the holiday season. Despite the restrictions on wall decorations, the room was transformed creatively to bring joy to all who enter.

The Plan

The holiday decorations were meticulously planned and executed, with kid-friendly projects that brought joy to all. From paper chains to window paint, the children were actively involved in creating a festive environment for everyone to enjoy.

  1. Paper Chains – A classic decoration that added a touch of charm to the space.
  2. Window Paint – Creative patterns and designs brought the windows to life with holiday spirit.
  3. Magnetic Paper Trees For All The Tables – Easy to assemble and added a festive touch to the dining area.
  4. Decorate The Trees With Curated And Shatterproof Ornaments – Adding ornaments to the trees brought a festive sparkle to the room.
  5. Column Fun – Innovative ways to decorate the columns without damaging the walls.

The holiday decorations were a hit, with the window painting being a standout feature. The kids enjoyed the creative process and added their personal touch to the festive designs.

The rooms were decorated in three different color palettes, each bringing a unique and festive vibe to the space. From traditional red and green to a colorful Dr. Seuss theme, the decorations added warmth and joy to the shelter.
