Gretch’s Next MOTO: The Bedroom Switch Up

Timing is crucial in design, just as it is in everything else. Around a year ago in April, I unveiled my first Makeover Takeover – my bedroom. It was a moment of perfect timing as I had recently moved into my place and had the opportunity to design my room from scratch. I was thrilled.

I fell in love with how the space turned out. The furniture pieces I got from Article, including a storage bed, a floating headboard, and a dreamy dresser, were incredible. The fabric that covered my walls added a unique touch. However, after a year and two months of living in that space, I realized some things. Mainly, how wrong it was to choose the smaller room as my bedroom, as evidenced by my stubbed toes.

I consider myself fortunate to have a two-bedroom apartment all to myself. When I moved, having more livable space was a priority. I had a garage in my previous place, which was great but also hazardous. The extra space led to accumulating a lot of stuff, which was not ideal. Moving to a two-bedroom apartment, I found myself with a room filled with unfinished projects, vintage items, and more clutter. This led to the decision to turn the larger room into a studio and the smaller one into my bedroom.

However, over time, the studio room turned into a cluttered space that I named The Doom Room. It became a place where all my extra items piled up, leading to chaos and disorganization. The lack of space and the chaos next door started to suffocate me, prompting a need for change.

This realization led to the decision to start afresh with a purge. A garage sale in the neighborhood provided the perfect opportunity to declutter and make space for what truly matters. The next step involves transforming the guest room/office into a functional and inspiring space. The goal is to create a livable environment where there is ample room to move around and enjoy the pieces I love.

Stay tuned for updates as I embark on this journey of transformation. It’s time for a reassessment and a fresh start. Let the makeover begin!

Sincerely,

Gretch
