It seems that primary colors, particularly red, yellow, and blue, are currently trending. I have always been a fan of these colors, especially red, which has always had a place in our homes. Yellow, on the other hand, has been a bit more sporadic in terms of popularity due to its bold and bright nature. However, it is undeniably a happy color that can bring a room to life and add a burst of joy. So, where can I incorporate this sunny color in my home without committing to it fully?
Inspiration in Person:

Last year, I visited Anne’s house, who has an all-yellow sitting room. It was a fun and magical experience to be surrounded by that yellow hue. While most of us may not have the luxury of extra rooms to experiment with bold colors, it got me thinking about incorporating yellow in a less risky way in my own home.
Birdie’s Room – Adding Some Pops:

Birdie’s room already features pops of color in the wallpaper, vintage lamp, and throw. I suggested adding stripes to her ceiling to complement the yellow butterflies on her wallpaper, but her style has evolved since then. I opted for scallop decals in her closet instead, which turned out to be a fun and removable addition.

As I am drawn to the color yellow, I am exploring other areas in my home where it could be incorporated in a more mature way.
The Landing:

The landing in my home seems like a perfect spot to introduce yellow. I am considering incorporating it in the sconce shades or painting the skylight shaft with a fun color or pattern. It’s a project that I have been meaning to tackle and could add a playful touch to the space.
Another idea is to create a large-scale mural on the floor with hints of yellow, although the practicality and maintenance of such a project need to be carefully considered.

Partnering with a professional like Racheal from Banyan Bridges could help me bring my vision to life in a way that is both stylish and manageable.
Yellow in Charlie’s Room?

Charlie’s room could use a touch of yellow, especially in his skateboard “sconce” and standing lamp. It’s a subtle way to introduce the color without overwhelming the space.
The Art Barn?

The art barn is coming together nicely, with touches of yellow being considered to complement the other vibrant colors in the space. Yellow accents, such as a large arched sconce, could add a playful element to the room, enhancing its colorful aesthetic.
My Nephew’s Room:

My nephew’s room presents another opportunity to incorporate yellow, especially with a green and yellow Oregon Ducks theme. By carefully selecting decor items in yellow, I hope to create a vibrant and engaging space for him.
As I continue to explore the idea of yellow in my home, I have gathered inspiration from various sources. While I may not commit to a dominant yellow feature, I appreciate the energy and vibrancy it can bring to a space. Perhaps a temporary pop of color is all that is needed to lift the spirits and add a touch of joy to our surroundings.
Wishing you a wonderful day ahead. xx
