Birdie wants to thank all of you for the support during this change, and she is incredibly grateful and excited 🙂 Here’s what’s going on. Years ago, she and I chose this wallpaper for her room, and we both loved how colorful, whimsical, and happy it was (just like her). However, a year or so later, when Birdie was around 8 or 9, she expressed that it no longer felt like her. As much as I was disappointed, I realized that she was growing and changing, and her room should reflect that.

I had promised Birdie that we could change the room when she turned 13, but she felt that waiting that long was unbearable. After receiving feedback from many of you who encouraged us to make the change sooner, we decided to go ahead with it. We realized that it’s important for her to feel comfortable and happy in her space, especially as she grows and her tastes evolve.

We worked together to create a new look for her room, including painting the walls a soft lavender color that she loves. The process of removing the old wallpaper was not easy, but we knew it was necessary to create a space that truly reflects who Birdie is now.

She has a clear vision for her room now, and we are working together to make it a reality. It’s a bittersweet moment for me as a parent, seeing her grow up and assert her own style. But I am grateful for the opportunity to support her in this journey of self-expression.

As we continue to transform her room, I am reminded of the passage of time and the beauty of watching a child transition into a young adult. It’s a privilege to witness her growth and be a part of creating a space that feels like home to her.
