Dressing Up Holiday Sweaters For A Party (While Still Being Comfortable)

This holiday season, I have the exciting opportunity to attend two non-kid holiday parties with other grownup women in stylish homes. It’s a refreshing change from our usual casual gatherings at home with lots of kids, where ugly sweaters and slippers reign supreme. Dressing up for these parties has been a welcomed change for me, although I still aim to be comfortable while looking cute and festive. Living in Portland means I can keep my attire casual, so no need for body-con sequin dresses here.

Holiday Sweaters

Sweater | Skirt | Tights

This year, I decided to put together a few holiday-adjacent outfits that are both comfortable and stylish. The first look, a preppy sweater with a pleated skirt, gave off a vintage Martha Stewart vibe from the 80s. The combination of a cropped sweater, plaid skirt, and burgundy tights struck the perfect balance between festive and casual. The second outfit, featuring a cozy fair isle sweater paired with a wool skirt and boots, exuded a warm and inviting holiday feel. The third look, with a cable knit sweater and flare pants, offered a mix of conservative and trendy elements. The addition of a pop of burgundy could elevate the outfit even more. The fourth ensemble, showcasing a beautiful cape and slip skirt, exuded sophistication and elegance. The slip skirt trend, when paired with the right accessories, can create a pretty and sophisticated look for any holiday gathering.

Sweater | Skirt | Boots

As the holiday season approaches, these outfit ideas showcase a blend of comfort and style, perfect for any festive gathering. Whether it’s a casual house party or a more dressed-up event, these looks offer a variety of options for the modern woman. Stay tuned for more holiday fashion inspiration!
