Amateur riders play a crucial role in the reining industry. They are the individuals who invest in young horses, support training programs, and compete in the sport while managing busy lives outside of the show ring.

This influence is evident at the highest levels of reining competition.

In 2026, The Run For A Million Non Pro Challenge will feature $125,000 in added prize money, a $50,000 increase that solidifies its reputation as a premier event in non-professional reining.

The Road to Las Vegas

Qualifying for the Non Pro Challenge begins at The Run For A Million semi-finals, with qualifying events held throughout the United States and Europe. Riders who place in the top five at these events move on to the non-pro semi-finals, which coincide with the 6666 Ranch NRHA Derby in Oklahoma City.

From there, the top 30 riders progress to The Run For A Million in Las Vegas, along with additional international qualifiers.

The format of starting fresh ensures that each rider starts the event on an equal footing, emphasizing current performance over past earnings or reputation.
