Xtra Magic Doctor’s show record spans almost a decade, transitioning from a reiner to a ranch horse under the guidance of trainer Leslie Lange, with over $163,000 in lifetime earnings. Lange believes the stallion, sired by Shiners Voodoo Dr and out of Grays Starlight mare Aleena Starlight, continues to improve with age.
Lange describes Magic Mike as having exceptional movement and safety, making him a versatile and enjoyable horse to own and show. Known as “Magic Mike,” he faces tough competition from horses like Cowpuncher Cadillac and SUMAC Gunnabeflashy in ranch horse events.
(Almost) Always the Bridesmaid
Lange also owns SUMAC Gunnabeflashy, a successful gelding shown by Bud Lyon, who has often outshone Magic Mike in competitions. Despite this, Lange remains determined to surpass Lyon’s horse and enjoys owning both talented animals.

Magic Mike, born in 2014 and bred by Cache Performance Horses, initially excelled in reining competitions before transitioning to ranch horse events. With a successful career in both disciplines, Magic Mike’s versatility and gentle nature have made him a valuable asset in Lange’s show pen.
