Sluff Is Bringing the ‘Good Gross’ Korean Bathhouse Scrub to Your Shower

I have always been a fan of chemical exfoliants like glycolic acid toners, lactic acid body lotions, and alphahydroxy acid (AHA) products. However, my perspective changed when I tried sluff, which arrived at my doorstep and completely transformed my skincare routine in just minutes.

Founded by Christina Han and Esther Nordlinger, sluff draws inspiration from the Korean bathing culture and the concept of “sluffing” – a process that involves heat, friction, and the removal of dead skin and product buildup. The brand’s $48 kit, currently on sale for $43, includes a viscose textured mitt, a pre-sluff bar, and a eucalyptus body lotion.

The pre-sluff bar, infused with charcoal, olive oil, and shea butter, helps prepare the skin for exfoliation with the mitt. As you use the mitt, you’ll notice the removal of dead skin cells, revealing smoother and silkier skin. The eucalyptus body lotion, enriched with aloe, jojoba, and centella asiatica, provides a calming finish to the exfoliation process.

After just one use, I noticed a significant difference in the texture of my skin. Not only did it feel smoother, but I also experienced no redness or irritation, which is a common concern for my sensitive skin. Sluff recommends starting with light pressure once a week and gradually increasing the frequency for those dealing with skin issues like keratosis pilaris or ingrown hairs.

The immediate results and affordable price make the sluff kit a worthwhile investment. While the exfoliation process may be intense, the satisfying outcome makes it worth it.
