What to Know About the New Treatment

If you’ve put your hair through the wringer with bleaching, coloring, heat styling, or other damaging treatments, chances are you’re familiar with Olaplex No.3 Hair Perfector ($34). This treatment has gained legendary status in the world of hair repair, introducing consumers to the idea that broken hair bonds can be repaired.

Now, Olaplex is introducing a new iteration of this iconic product. Meet No.3PLUS ($34), the next level of the original treatment that put the brand (and the bond-building category) on the map. This updated formula promises a quicker and more advanced repair experience.

Similar to the original No.3, No.3PLUS is a pre-shampoo treatment that should be applied before washing your hair. However, instead of leaving it on for 10-20 minutes like a typical mask, the new formula works its magic in just three minutes. Olaplex claims that this treatment is designed to repair hair damage from the inside out, strengthen strands, and help prevent future breakage.

The technology behind the formula builds on Olaplex’s patented Bond Building Technology, which repairs disulfide bonds within the hair structure that may be damaged by chemical treatments, heat styling, or environmental factors. The new product also features a proprietary Damage Defense Cationic Complex, specifically developed to target repair at the hair’s outer cuticle layer, addressing damage from multiple angles by strengthening the hair’s inner structure and smoothing and fortifying its outer surface.

In addition to the bond-repair technology, the formula contains a blend of conditioning ingredients to enhance the overall look and feel of the hair. A natural humectant derived from L-glutamic acid helps to moisturize the hair, improving softness and manageability. Crambe abyssinica seed oil, avocado oil, and sunflower seed oil work together to smooth the cuticle, reduce frizz and flyaways, and provide a healthier appearance.

Olaplex’s testing results are impressive. In clinical studies on bleached hair, No.3PLUS is said to visibly reverse hair damage after just one use. With continued use, the brand claims that hair becomes three times stronger after four applications, three times softer than bleached hair, and the internal hair structure strengthens by up to 75% over time.

To celebrate the launch of No.3PLUS, Olaplex has enlisted Saturday Night Live cast member Chloe Fineman to star in the campaign as the fictional Chief Hair Officer.

With No.3PLUS, Olaplex is following the path of many successful beauty brands by improving upon their hero product. Whether you’re a longtime fan of No.3 or in need of some hair repair, the promise of three-minute repair may be enough to catch your attention.
